If you’re a true foodie, the famous "Nishiki Market" is just a block away. (Be sure to go early—most shops close by 6 pm, a tradition from when it mainly served locals for grocery shopping.) Just a short walk east, you’ll reach the Kawaramachi area, known for the Shinkyogoku and Teramachi shopping arcades.
